Maggie Connors is the founder of the Los Angeles-based company getting in on the cannabis craze from an especially high place. Founding the company in 2017, Connors took years of working in brand management and product design for global companies and applied it to creating a values-driven brand with advocacy at its core. The hexagonal vape pen has a 2:1 THC to CBD ratio and is naturally free of harmful ingredients. The low-dosed product gives the user a “happy high” conducive to socializing or creativity.
While creating a good product is a priority, the company is also dedicated to advocate for LGBGTQ rights, criminal justice reform and scientific research in cannabis. In a recent partnership with the Equity First Alliance, Besito released a multi-media campaign featuring legalization advocates and formerly incarcerated individuals with their families to give a voice and a face to those harmed by cannabis prohibition. “A Record Shouldn’t Last A Lifetime” uses the real-life stories of people of color discriminated against because of historic convictions that limit employment and education as well as housing and healthcare. A whopping 46.9% of people arrested for drug law violations in the U.S are Black or Latino with 2,205,300 incarcerations taking place in 2016 alone.
“It was just a lot. I really didn’t understand a lot of what I was going through until later in life.”
When he came home he went to college and started learning about business and the health benefits of CBD oil.
“You know a lot of people when they get out of the military, they’re injured. They suffer from insomnia, PTSD, and there’s studies that show that CBD and cannabis in general helps with all these ailments,” Henderson said.
So, he started Extract Labs, a medicinal CBD company out of his garage.
